About Me

Hi, I’m Lay’Na Anderson—a multi-disciplinary artist with a deep love for soft color, intentional texture, and visual storytelling. My work lives in the space between calm and complexity, often blending delicate tones with subtle shimmer to create pieces that feel peaceful, reflective, and emotionally grounding.

I’m known for my signature use of soft palettes and unexpected materials—from ombré blends to hand-painted t-shirt yarns and macramé cord. Whether I’m layering acrylic on canvas or reimagining childhood crafts like knitting and crochet as fine art, each piece is created to offer a moment of stillness and presence.

My path to being an artist began early. Growing up, my mom enrolled me in endless art and craft classes, and it was there I first learned to knit and crochet—skills I cherished but didn’t fully return to until years later. That early love of making eventually led me to a creative career in film and television as a professional makeup artist. Working on set taught me to use color and contrast with purpose—to tell stories without words. It’s a skill I carry into my visual art today.

In recent years, I’ve begun integrating fiber into my studio practice more intentionally. By using soft, tactile materials like yarn and cord, I explore the balance between structure and softness—bringing the traditions of fiber craft into conversation with contemporary art. It’s a return to my roots, but with a new language.

When I’m not on set, I’m in the studio—surrounded by paint, yarn, and focused energy—creating art that’s meant to resonate, not just decorate.
